ニック・ナースHCインタビュー - 渡邊雄太の3Pシューティングについて

この日の試合前会見でナースHCは渡邊のシューティングについて楽観的な見通しを語っていた（写真をクリックするとインタビュー動画を見られます）

――渡邊の3Pショット動作に修正が必要な点があるかについて

　いえ、まったくありません。問題は別で、シューティング動作は良いと思います。現代はさまざまなデータ解析や追跡が練習においても活用される時代ですから、毎試合毎試合で、もしも外したらその原因を調べ、右に外したか、左に外したか、長すぎたか短すぎたか、軌道に問題があったかなどを分析しようと試みます。もしもそれで何らかの傾向が見つかれば、練習でそれに立ち返ってその部分に重点を置いて取り組むのです。
でも彼の場合はそういったことよりももっと普通のことだと思います。誰しも練習の方がずっとよく入るものですよね。同じ位置から、トントントンと同じリズムで繰り返し打ちますし。実戦では一本一本が違ってきますし、速い展開の中でディフェンダーも高いレベルで追いかけてきますから。それに慣れなければいけません。いわゆる経験というもので、その状況で狙える自信が必要なだけで、繰り返しになりますが私は彼がショットを狙うことにグリーンライトを出しています。
打ち続けてほしいですね。ちょっと苦労しているのはわかっていますがぜひそうしてほしいです。ボールが廻ってきて自分がオープンだったら打っていいのだという自信を得てほしいのです。オフェンスのリズムはそうしたところから生まれるものです。私は大丈夫だと思っています。シーズンの終盤にかけて入り始めるでしょう。なぜなら、元の質問の答えに戻って彼のショットの動作は非常に良いものだからです。しかも取り組む姿勢も非常によく、毎日練習していますから。

No, not really. I think that’s part of the thing. He does have good mechanics. You know we obviously in this day and age you get all these things, that chart and track all the shots even in practice, right? We try to do some analysis after each game of…, you know, if you missed, why you missed or was it right or was it left or was it long or was it short, was it the arc…, whatever there is things you’re studying. And if there is a trend you see in games you try to go back to the stuff and emphasize that on the practice floor.
But it’s just more of I think this is like a general thing. Guys obviously shoot a lot better in practice, right? You’re shooting one after another from the same spot, rhythm, rhythm, rhythm. Well in the game it’s a one shot from that spot. Speed of the game is fast. The defenders. The level of contest…, all those things. That’s just…, you just gotta get used to that. That’s like what experience is. You just got to be able to be confident enough and I again…, I’m green-lighting him.
I really want him to keep taking them. I know he’s struggled a little bit. But I really want him to keep taking them. I want him to get confident that those are the shots when they’re swung around to him when he’s open, he’s gotta…, every time he’s gotta…. That’s kind of the rhythm of how the offense works. And I’m confident here in this last portion of the season, he’s going to start making some of them because again, going back to the original part of your question his mechanics are very good. And his work ethic is very good, too. He works at it every day, too.

――インサイドに攻め込むようにといったアドバイスをしていたかどうか
一般論として、彼には一直線にゴールに向かってドライブしてほしいと思っています。ボールを受け取ったらディフェンダーを抜き去ってゴールのすぐそばまでいってほしいですね。誰かが対応してくるか、2人に囲まれるようならパスを考えますが、有利な状況なら決めてきてほしいです。1対1になったらまず得点をねらわなければ。それがゴールのそばならこのリーグでは決めてこられなければいけません。
この点でも私は彼が良くなってきているとみています。そういった状況が（試合中に）増えていますから。良い判断ができるようになってきていて、決めきることもできるようになってきました。これも先日お話ししましたが、彼は2つ前の試合でアンドワンの機会を2度見逃されていました。映像を見てジャッジミスだと確認しましたよ。アンドワンの機会を2度、相手のファウルを見逃されたことで失い得点できませんでしたが、いずれにせよ、彼はよくなってきています。

　プレーする機会も、特に短期的には増えるでしょう。欠場者が多く、試合は多いですからね。何しろこれからの6-7日間ほどで5試合だったと思います。出場時間が増えると思いますから、またよくなっているところを見せてもらえるに違いありませんよ。
So, normally we’re wanting him on those direct line drives you know he catches it and he blow by his defender. Yeah, we’re going to the..., right in front of the rim. And somebody steps up or two guys come in to help them, then you’ve done your job then you gotta kick it out. But if you’ve got a…, you know an advantage, you take it. If you’ve got a one-on-one, you should…, you know you try to score that. In this league, you need to be able to score kind of one-on-one at the rim.
And you know I’m seeing improvement there from him, too. I think he’s getting in there more often. I think he‘s making better decisions and getting a couple finishes there. Again, like I said two games ago he got two and-ones called off. They were…, they were both wrong calls after watching the tape. You should have had two and-ones when he got fouled and they didn’t give him the bucket but anyway… he’s good.

He’s gonna certainly get his opportunity here especially in the short term. We got a lot of guys out, a lot of games. You know I think we’ve got five games coming up here about six days or seven days, whatever it is. So he’s gonna get some minutes and it’ll be good to see him improve.
